Fraudsters also use SCOR’s name to make fraudulent withdrawals from private bank accounts and request payment of falsified invoices. However, SCOR does not provide financial services to individuals or request any payments directly from them.

How to prevent fraud

Protect your data

• Limit the online publication of information. Even non-confidential personal data can be stolen and used without your knowledge to access your banking information.
• Keep your codes strictly confidential, whether they pertain to your payment methods or remote account access. Do not share them with anyone, not even your bank advisor. Never disclose your codes, passwords, or banking identifiers.
• Do not store your data on unsecured media, whether physical (notebook, post-it notes) or digital (email, hard drive, mobile phone).
• Carefully read the information provided during the authorization process of a transaction. When validating a transaction, take the time to verify all details to ensure its security.
• Be vigilant about the correspondence between the beneficiary's identity and the IBAN during the first transfer to an account. The authorization process explicitly reminds you that this correspondence has not been verified by the bank.

Maintain secured contacts

• Don’t click on links in an email. Type the address of a site directly into the address bar of your browser instead.
• Be wary of all calls from unknown callers.
• Check the contact details of the person you are contacting and the identity of the company they belong to.
• Don’t divulge personal and/or confidential information by email or telephone, unless you initiated the contact yourself and know the recipient.
• Notify your bank of any changes to your contact details (phone number, email address) through the usual recommended channel. This ensures they can reach you quickly in case of any suspicious activity.
   

Stay alert

• Conduct an Internet search on your usual search engine using the key words + “scam” or “fraud”.
• Don’t give in to the urgency of the request, which should constitute a red flag.
• Be wary of offers that are too attractive.
• Be wary of the subject line, which is often alarmist or prescriptive and may include sentences such as “payment instructions”.
• If a call or email seems suspicious, contact SCOR as soon as possible to confirm its validity.
• If in doubt, don’t take any action and don’t divulge any confidential information, particularly bank details.
• Systematically check that the person you are dealing with is authorized to offer banking or insurance products by consulting the relevant websites of the Register of Financial Firms (e.g., for France: REGAFI - Registre des agents financiers), the Register of Insurance Companies (e.g., for France: REFASSU) and the register of insurance, banking and finance intermediaries (e.g., for France: Orias).
• Regularly check the security section of your bank's website or app. It is frequently updated to reflect the latest and most common frauds.

If you are a victim of fraud

We recommend that you take the following steps:

• Contact SCOR by telephone at +33 (0)1 58 44 70 00 or via our contact form;

Report fraud

• Collect and keep all information relating to the fraud: how the fraudsters contacted you, the domain name of the website, the contact details of the people with whom you were in contact, the documentation sent by the fraudsters, any sums invested and any information you may have passed on to them.
• File a complaint with the relevant authority. You can file a complaint (in France) here.
• Contact your bank advisor (your bank might be able to communicate with the bank which initiated the fraudulent withdrawals and identify the Fraudster)
• Check your account regularly for any anomalies and stop any direct debits.
